How do I remove a water meter and install it on a different account?
If the wrong meter is installed on the wrong account, you'll need to remove it and install it on a different account.

These instructions will show you how to remove and install a water meter, but you can use the same instructions to remove and install an electric meter. Watch a video clip (01m04s) on removing a water meter and installing it on a different account.
Step 1: Removing a meter from an account
1. Open Utility Connect Utility Management > Meters > Enter Meter Activity.
2. Enter a Customer.
This is the customer with the installed meter that you want to remove.
3. Press Enter.
4. Select the Action Code for Water Removal Reading and then press Enter.
Your organization may use different action codes to perform the same task. Find the action code your organization uses to enter a removal meter reading.
Remember... You can substitute "Electric" for "Water" to remove an electric meter.
The Enter Meter Activity form expands to include additional fields.
5. Enter the Removal Date.
6. Enter the Removal Reading.
If the usage is zero, use the prior reading as the removal reading. If there was usage, enter the removal reading on the meter and the routine will calculate usage.
7. Deselect the checkbox titled Create Billing.
8. Use the Meter Status menu to select Inventory.
Why do I want to assign the meter status to inventory? Assigning the meter status to inventory will make the meter available to add to a different account. When a meter is active, it cannot be installed on another account.
9. Press Enter again to save.
Do not exit Enter Meter Activity. You'll use the same routine to install the meter.
The meter is removed from the customer's account and placed in inventory. Now, you're ready to install the meter on a different account.
Step 2: Installing a meter on a different account
1. Open Utility Connect Utility Management > Meters > Enter Meter Activity.
If Enter Meter Activity is still open, skip this step.
2. Enter a Customer.
This is the customer where you want to install the meter.
3. Use the Action Code menu to select Water Install Reading.
Your organization may use different action codes to perform the same task. Find the action code your organization uses to enter a meter read for a newly installed meter.
Remember, you can substitute "Electric" for "Water" to remove an electric meter.
4. Press Enter.
The Enter Meter Activity form expands to include new fields.
5. Enter the Meter ID.
Use the meter ID on the meter that you assigned to inventory in step 1.
6. Enter the Install Date and then press Enter.
The Install Reading shows the removal reading recorded when the meter was placed in inventory.
7. Press Enter.
The meter is installed on a different account.
